Tony Birch is an extraordinarily talented, versatile author who has written everything from bestselling novels, to exceptional short stories, and lyrical, moving poetry. His writing has won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing, the Patrick White Literary Award, and been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Treat yourself to this insightful session as Tony discusses his writing with cultural producer, writer, editor and weaver, and Senior Project Manager of Red Room Poetry, Anne-Marie Te Whiu.

Tony Birch is the author of three novels: the bestselling The White Girl, winner of the 2020 NSW Premier's Award for Indigenous Writing, and shortlisted for the 2020 Miles Franklin Literary Prize; Ghost River, winner of the 2016 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Indigenous Writing; and Blood, which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award in 2012.

Anne-Marie Te Whiu is Senior Project Manager at Red Room Poetry. Anne-Marie edited Tony Birch's poetry collection Whisper Songs.
