WE ARE THE STARS The Mick Dark Talk for the Future with Gina Chick

  • Katoomba Community Centre 81-83 Katoomba Street Katoomba, NSW, 2780 Australia (map)

Single tickets for this event have now sold out, but you can still attend by buying a day or weekend pass.

The inaugural winner of Alone Australia, Gina Chick captured the hearts of the nation, surviving 67 days completely alone in the Australian wilderness. Her memoir, We Are The Stars, tells the extraordinary tale that led her there.

A rewilding facilitator of many years, Gina is deeply committed to remembering of the wisdom of our hunter gatherer ancestors, living by internal authority, and discovering ways to be deeply connected to the vast web of life that is the nervous system of our living planet.

The Mick Dark Talk for the Future is an annual keynote address on the environment that honours the legacy of Mick Dark, who in 1989 gifted Varuna, the National Writers’ House to the writers of Australia. Mick was an ardent and committed environmentalist, and this year, in collaboration with the Blue Mountains Conservation Society, we are honoured to welcome this indomitable adventurer to deliver this prestigious address.

Gina Chick is a rewilding facilitator, adventurer, writer and speaker. After 67 days of searing vulnerability, Gina was the last person standing in the first series of Alone Australia, and the third woman to win an Alone solo challenge. Her determination, passion, and love of the natural world endeared her to more than 1.5 million people around Australia. Writing is in Gina's genes. Her grandmother, Charmian Clift, was an author, essayist and Australia's first female columnist in the early 60s. Her mother, Suzanne Chick is also a respected author. We are the Stars is Gina's debut memoir.
