Dr. Dimitri Douchin
With a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Dr. Dimitri Douchin has over a decade of experience as an astronomy guide. His career includes work at Lake Tekapo NZ, Sydney Observatory, Macquarie University, and Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley. Currently a cultural astronomer at Western Sydney University, Dimitri collaborates with various Indigenous communities to help rebuild the traditional astronomies of the First Australians. He gave a TED Talk entitled ‘Our Humanity in the Stars’ and was part of Australian Geographic’s ‘Ask an Expert’ YouTube series. He is the Co-founder of the Blue Mountains Dark Sky Initiative.
