Hope in the Time of Climate Change with Rebecca Huntley, Joëlle Gergis, Delia Falconer and James Bradley

How can we deal with feelings of climate and environmental grief alongside invigorating the hope, love, collaboration and community that will be vital in mitigating that loss into the future? Rebecca Huntley leads a discussion with award-winning climate scientist, Joëlle Gergis* (Humanity’s Moment, Sunburnt Country) and Australian novelists Delia Falconer (Signs and Wonders, The Service of Clouds) and James Bradley (Ghost Species, Clade, The Resurrectionists) on what conversations we need to have to protect and preserve our environment and climate for our grandchildren.

Dr Rebecca Huntley is one of Australians foremost researchers on social trends. She has lead research at Essential Media and Vox Populi and was a director at Ipsos Australia.

Dr Joëlle Gergis is an award-winning climate scientist and author based at the Australian National University. Her writing has appeared in The Monthly, The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, Griffith Review and Harper’s Bazaar. Joëlle is the author of Sunburnt Country: The future and history of climate change in Australia. Her latest book is Humanity’s Moment: a climate scientist’s case for hope.

Delia Falconer is the award-winning author of four books, The Service of Clouds, The Lost Thoughts of Soldiers, Sydney, and Signs and Wonders. Between them, these books have been shortlisted for national awards across the categories of fiction, nonfiction, innovation, history, and biography, including the Miles Franklin, Prime Minister’s Literary Awards and the National Biography Awards.

James Bradley is a novelist and essayist. His books include the novels Wrack, The Deep Field, The Resurrectionist and Clade, a book of poetry, Paper Nautilus, and The Penguin Book of the Ocean.
