On Belief, with James Valentine

  • The Carrington Hotel 15-47 Katoomba Street Katoomba, NSW, 2780 Australia (map)

James Valentine wants to talk to people about their beliefs. Not just ethics and values, but questions such as ‘Do you believe that people are basically good?’ ‘Do you believe in luck?’ ‘Do you believe people can change?’ ‘What is the right way to parent?’ and much more.

Join James as he interviews award-winning authors Charlotte Wood and Nardi Simpson and asks what they reckon about these gnarly but important questions.

James Valentine is a musician and ABC radio presenter, known for being a movie reviewer on Showtime, a reporter and commentator on Sunrise, It Takes Two, Midday, Good Morning Australia and TVTV. James has also featured as the narrator of Lifestyle Channel’s Come Dine With Me Australia and has written regular columns for publications including The Australian.

Charlotte Wood is a Sydney-based author of seven novels and three non-fiction works. She has won the Stella Prize and the Prime Minister's Literary Award, among others, and her features and essays have appeared in The Guardian, the New York Times, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Monthly, the Saturday Paper and others.

Nardi Simpson is a Yuwaalaraay author, storyteller and performer dedicated to the making and sharing of culture. Nardi’s debut novel, Song of the Crocodile, was published in 2020. The novel was longlisted for the Stella Prize and the Miles Franklin Award, and was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing.
