With electrifying boldness, Sarah Holland-Batt confronts what it means to be mortal in an astonishing and deeply humane portrait of a father’s Parkinson’s Disease, and a daughter forged by grief. Join the winner of the 2023 Stella Prize, Sarah Holland-Batt as she discusses her poetry collection The Jaguar in this compelling conversation with David Leser.

Sarah Holland-Batt is an award-winning poet, editor and critic, and is also a Professor of Creative Writing at QUT. Her first book, Aria (UQP, 2008), won a number of national literary awards, including the Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize and the Judith Wright Poetry Prize. Her latest book, The Jaguar, won the 2023 Stella Prize, the Queensland Premier's Award for a Work of State Significance and The Australian Book of the Year 2022, and was shortlisted for the 2023 Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry and longlisted for the 2023 Griffin Poetry Prize.

David Leser is a multi-award-winning Australian journalist and author of seven books, including his memoir, To Begin To Know, which was shortlisted for the 2015 National Biography Award. A former Middle East and Washington correspondent, he is a regular contributor to Good Weekend and the executive producer of the award-winning documentary, Stories of Me.
