Before she wrote books for children, Maryam Master wrote plays for children, adapting works by famous authors such as David Walliams (Mr Stink, Gangsta Granny). However, her latest novel is adapted from a place much more personal: her life. Maryam was born in Iran and arrived in Australia as a refugee at the age of nine. Join Maryam to hear about her career as a writer and No Words, her compassionate and hopeful book based on her own experiences of fleeing persecution. Suitable for ages 7 upwards.
Maryam Master is an Iran-born Australian screenwriter and playwright who made her start writing for shows such as Home and Away and Blinky Bill. Maryam is also the author of two novels, Exit Through the Gift Shop and No Words.
