Join George Haddad as he talks with Briohny Doyle, Max Easton and Shaun Prescott about the art of the novel and the places where writers find their inspiration. How do writers discover their unique voice and the stories they have inside?

Briohny Doyle is a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Sydney, a former Fulbright scholar, and the author of Echolalia, Adult Fantasy and The Island Will Sink. Her work has been recognised on lists for the Miles Franklin Literary Award, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and the Melbourne Award for Literature. Her latest novel is Why We Are Here.

Max Easton is a Sydney-based writer whose work has appeared in Mess+Noise, The Lifted Brow, Meanjin and the Sydney Review of Books. He is the creator of Barely Human, a zine and podcast, and was longlisted for the 2022 Miles Franklin Literary Award for his first novel, The Magpie Wing. His second novel Paradise Estate will be published in October 2023.

Shaun Prescott is a writer based in the Blue Mountains. He is the author of two novels, The Town, and Bon and Lesley.

George Haddad is an award-winning writer, an artist, and a lecturer in Creative Writing at Western Sydney University. His novella, Populate and Perish, was the winner of the 2016 Viva La Novella competition and his short story, Kátharsis, was awarded the 2018 Neilma Sidney Prize. In 2023 he was named a Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Novelist. His latest novel is Losing Face.
